Aunt Liz and Uncle Dizz welcome Connor home and let the neighbors know he is here.

6/13/2010

Uncle D and Aunt Elizabeth used their creativity to welcome Connor home and announce his birth to the neighborhood. Thank goodness they are so artistic since the sign they bought at Michael's Crafts said "Gongratulations!" They will have to teach Connor how to make beautiful chalk drawings AND how to spell.

So everyone left and our little family of three climbed in for a nice snooze in our own bed. Connor loved it!

After nap time it was time to celebrate! Elizabeth and Mom brought yummy food and Michael sabraged a bottle of Dom Perignon to celebrate. Grandpa Greg brought Ryan and Sean along for their first look at their new nephew.

Home Sweet Home

The jacuzzi tub was nice, the nurses were super, but after one night we were ready for home, sweet home.  The sweet Ralph Lauren outfit we took to the hospital was WAY too big for our little boy so the back-up outfit had to do.  We were checked out, loaded up and strapped Connor into the car seat for the first time and drove straight home to a brand new way of life.

Finally he is on his way...June 10th....no make that June 11th!

We were really trying for June 9th before Aunt Katie headed for Mississippi and Teach for America but this baby is working on his own time. We thought for sure June 10th was the day - everyone stayed home from work but then all labor came to a halt. It just took my dad going to the dentist, Elizabeth going back to work, my mom going to the financial planners and Michael going for a load of bark dust to do some yard work for my water to break at 3:00.

While labor was hard and fast with no epidural, it was not fast enough to make the June 10th date. Instead Connor David Humm arrived at 12:31 am on June 11th weighing in at 7 lbs, 15.4 oz. and 20" long. By 2:30 am the full room of people (doctor, nurse, pediatrician, Anne, Fred, Greg, Elizabeth and Dustin) all cleared out and Michael and I looked at each other and said "They left the baby with us!" Thank goodness, because despite our exhaustion we could not sleep just looking at this beautiful boy.

Baby Humm seems to have not gotten the message that June 5th was supposed to be his birthday! The nursery is waiting, his new clothes are ready, his parents are anxious.
